What happens when Schwann cells are exposed to Mycobacterium leprae – A systematic review

چکیده

Mycobacterium leprae, the pathogen that causes human leprosy, has a unique affinity for infecting and persisting inside Schwann cells, principal glia of peripheral nervous system. Several studies have focused on this intricate host-pathogen interaction as an attempt to advance current knowledge mechanisms governing nerve destruction disease progression. However, during chronic course leprosy neuropathy, cells can respond internalize both live dead M. leprae bacilli-derived antigens, may result in divergent cellular pathobiological responses. This also distinctly contribute tissue degeneration, failure repair, inflammatory reactions, fibrosis, hallmarks disease. Therefore, present study systematically searched published leprae-Schwann cell vitro summarize findings provide discussion dynamics following challenge with bacilli.

What happens when data are fitted to the wrong equation?

In many problems of data analysis it is necessary to fit the data to a mathematical equation. Random errors of measurement will be responsible for deviations between the data and the equation, but superimposed on this there may be deviations that result from the equation being an inadequate description of the system from which the data were obtained. Plots of the residual (i.e. the difference b...

What are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are undifferentiated self regenerating multi potential cells. There are three types of stem cells categories by the ability to form after cells and correlated with the body’s development process. Totipotent: these stem cells can form an entire organism such as fertilized egg. Ploripotent: ploripotent cells are those that can form any cell in the body but cannot form an entire organ...

Current knowledge on Mycobacterium leprae transmission: a systematic literature review.

UNLABELLED Summary BACKGROUND The transmission pathways of Mycobacterium leprae are not fully understood. Solid evidence exists for an increased risk for individuals living in close contact with leprosy patients but the existence of zoonotic leprosy, environmental reservoirs and trauma-related transmission has also been established. PURPOSE To assess the current state of knowledge on M. lep...

Mycobacterium leprae renders Schwann cells and mononuclear phagocytes susceptible or resistant to killer cells.

Acquired resistance to Mycobacterium leprae, the etiologic agent of leprosy, crucially depends on cellular immune mechanisms. In addition to interleukin-mediated helper functions, killer mechanisms seem to be involved. This study addresses the question of how M. leprae render mononuclear phagocytes and Schwann cells, its natural targets, susceptible or resistant to killer cells. Killer activiti...

What happens when doctors are patients? Qualitative study of GPs.

BACKGROUND Current evidence about the experiences of doctors who are unwell is limited to poor quality data. AIM To investigate GPs' experiences of significant illness, and how this affects their own subsequent practice. DESIGN OF STUDY Qualitative study using interpretative phenomenological analysis to conduct and analyse semi-structured interviews with GPs who have experienced significant...
